SL Library hosts seed saving program

| April 24, 2019 1:00 AM

Seed saving is an age-old practice that is not only fun but easy to do — thanks to an upcoming program at the Spirit Lake Library.

Area residents are invited to join garden educator Lisa Taylor in a lively, hands-on session about growing and saving seeds on Saturday, April 25, at the Spirit Lake Library, 32575 N. Fifth Ave., in Spirit Lake. The author of “Your Farm in the City: An Urban-dweller’s Guide to Growing Food and Raising Animals” and the “Maritime Northwest Garden Guide,” Taylor’s programs are always popular so set your calendar now.

You’ll learn about the vegetables that are easy to grow for seed, how to grow your own “landrace variety” and how to save wet seeds. Participants also will work with a couple different plants to separate the seed and save them in an envelope to take home.
