WBCSD hosting community forums

| April 24, 2019 1:00 AM

PRIEST RIVER — In an attempt to reach some of the more rural community members, West Bonner County School District officials have scheduled community forums in the Blue Lake and Laclede areas.

“We are asking people to come join us, and it can be staff and students as well, come join us and share their concerns, positive experiences, ideas, solutions, West Bonner County strengths, weaknesses and opportunities,” said WBCSD Trustee Margaret Hall. “We will also answer questions about the levy ... so we hope that community members from those areas will come out.”

The district is asking voters to approve a two-year, $6 million supplemental levy — $3 million per year — on May 21. The levy is 26 percent of the district’s operating budget each year, covering areas such as the district’s general fund shortfall of $2,128,737 per year, as well as class fees, the school resource officer, technology supplies, library and school funds, curriculum and more.

The first community forum will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday at the Blue Lake Grange, 9518 Eastside Road. The second forum will be held from 6-7:30 Tuesday, April 30, at the Laclede Community Hall.
