We have a chance to re-elect an outstanding doctor and administrator — Dr. Scott Burgstahler — to the Pend Oreille Hospital District board in a non-partisan election on May 21. (The seat is an unpaid position that helps direct a portion of your property tax to help meet medical needs in our community.)

Serving on the board since 2012, Dr. Burgstahler has worked in private practice, at Bonner General Health, and currently serves as medical director and in-house physician at Life Care Center in Sandpoint. (He was named company-wide “Physician of the Year” for Life Care Centers of America in 2016.)

Scott and his wife Alison, a physical therapist, have lived in Sandpoint since 1991. They have two children, who are both in the medical profession.

One of Dr. Burgstahler’s goals is to support Bonner General Health through supporting free-standing clinics such as the Psychiatric Clinic, the Women’s Health Clinic and helping start up the new Ears, Nose and Throat Clinic. He wants to see our medical community stay vibrant and independent, yet maintaining good relationships with surrounding hospitals and medical systems.

To maintain our excellent medical reputation, vote for Dr. Scott Burgstahler to the open seat on the Pend Oreille Hospital District board of trustees on Tuesday, May 21. (Voters cast their ballots at their usual precinct voting location.
