Denali Terry's win gives Sandpoint tennis lone bright spot at Lake City

| April 25, 2019 1:00 AM

Denali Terry’s three-set win in girls singles was Sandpoint’s lone victory against Lake City on Wednesday afternoon. As a team, the Bulldogs fell 9-1.

“Today was not our day and Lake City was firing on all cylinders,” Sandpoint tennis head coach Kent Anderson wrote in an email. “Everyone lost in straight sets except our lone winner, Denali [Terry].”

Terry won with a super tie-breaker in the third set to beat Lake City’s Callysta Blubaum. It was Terry’s first high school singles win of her career.

“She played her heart out even after twisting her knee in the second set,” Anderson said. “Her serve was amazing and seemed to get better under pressure.”

The Bulldogs will have to regroup quickly, as the team travels to Spokane for the Inland Empire Tournament on Friday morning. The two-day tournament starts at 9 a.m.
