Sandpoint Strikers, Parks and Rec offers three fall leagues

| August 9, 2019 1:00 AM

Sandpoint Strikers and the Sandpoint Parks and Recreation Department are offering fall youth soccer leagues for children of all ages. Sign-ups for all three are now open.

Sandpoint Rec League

The Sandpoint Rec League is dedicated to providing a recreational youth soccer program that facilitates personal and athletic development for players of all skill levels in a safe, positive, and supportive environment. The program is intended to help players develop soccer skills, character, sportsmanship and discipline.

Teams practice at local elementary schools (Farmin-Stidwell, Washington, Kootenai, Northside and Sagle), then play games on Saturdays at Farmin-Stidwell’s fields.

Coaches are always needed. Sign up to coach and receive half off your child’s registration fee. Background checks will be conducted on all coaches.

Pick up a registration form at either the Sandpoint Library, Sandpoint Sports or online at www.sandpointsoccer.com

Kick Start Soccer

Kick Start Soccer is a skills camp for children ages 2-3 that meets weekly at the Forrest Bird Charter School Field, located at 614 Madison Avenue. Sessions are Tuesday afternoons — with two times to choose from — and will run from mid-September through mid-October. Kick Start is coached by Joel Aispuro, and he will be assisted by Strikers U13 players.

Fees are $40, which will include a t-shirt with your child’s name on the back.

Pick up a registration form at Sandpoint Sports or the Sandpoint Library, or print one online at www.sandpointsoccer.com.

Strikers Developmental Program

The Strikers Developmental program (SDP) is the program that is the transition between Rec League Soccer and Club Soccer (Strikers). It is open to all soccer players born in the birth years of 2011, 2012 and 2013.

The 2013 players will train in a co-ed group, directed by former SHS Head Men’s Soccer Coach Adam Tajan. The 2011/2012 players will train in a girls-only, boys-only group, directed by Strikers Director of Coaching Rick Mullins. 2013 players train on Wednesdays, and play games on Friday evenings. Training is at Farmin Field. 2011/2012 players train on Mon/Wed and play games on Friday evenings; training is also at Farmin Field. There are no tryouts for this program.

Sign up online at www.sandpointsoccer.com. There are nine spots left for this program. Fees are $145 per season, which includes a full Strikers kit the first season.
