Rotary hosts car wash fundraiser
Sandpoint Rotary will be hosting a car wash fundraiser Saturday to raise fund for Washington Elementary School’s Design for Change program. The event will be held at Northwest Auto Body & Towing, 1305 Michigan, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. There is a $10 suggest donation per wash.
Design for Change is an international program developed 10 years ago which now has chapters in 70 countries. The program tasks kids with learning about global issues and then looking within their own communities to identify problems they wish to address. Once a problem is identified, students use the Feel, Imagine, Do, Share design thinking process to build empathy for the problem, imagine solutions, implement solutions, and share their project with stakeholders and the community.
This year, six teams from Sandpoint were selected as the United States ambassadors to the global summit, which will be held in Rome, Italy this November.
All proceeds from the car wash will be utilized to give each student ambassador from Sandpoint the life changing experience of attending the global summit and then return to Sandpoint as leaders in the program with the ability to advocate for, and expand the program in Sandpoint.
