Registration open for Autumn Bloom

| August 28, 2019 1:00 AM

The Newport Autumn Bloom Run has something for everyone. Serious runners, novice runners, and walkers will enjoy the picturesque race route — featuring both a 5K and a 10K as well as the small-town charm of Newport, Wash.

The race is set for Saturday, Sept. 21, at TJ Kell Park, corner of First Street and Washington Avenue.

The cost is $30 adult (16 and older) with shirt or $20 without a shirt; $20 for youth under 16 years old with a shirt; or $20 on-site registration with no shirt available. Discounts are available for group of six or more; call or email the foundation for information.

Pre-registration for the race is Sept. 16. On-site registration will take place Sept. 21 from 7:30-8:30 a.m. All registration and check-in closes at 8:30 a.m.

The 10K is a certified Bloomsday second seed qualifying race. Corporate and group discounts are available (six-plus participants); those interested should call the Newport Hospital and Health Services Foundation office for their code.

The race shirts are some of the best in the region, NHHS officials said. The locally designed, long-sleeved shirts are in a technical fabric that they promise you’ll want to wear again. The medal are also heavy-duty— perfect for bling walls and bragging rights.

This year’s event benefits the NHHS Foundation’s Healthy Kids Snack Bag Program, the Reach Out and Read program and other Foundation programs. This race is sponsored by Amerigroup and Sherman-Campbell Funeral & Cremation Services. Tourism support for 2019 Autumn Bloom is provided by the ciity of Newport hotel/motel tax funds.
