Pierce named Idaho's top veterinarian

Dr. Robert Pierce of North Idaho Animal Hospital , has been selected as Idaho’s 2019 Veterinarian of the Year by the Idaho Veterinary Medical Association.

Pierce and his spouse, Dr. Dawn Mehra, opened their Sandpoint hospital,in 1994. Pierce was recognized for his tireless contributions to his profession and his fellow professionals. He was elected to the IVMA board and served as president in 2014.

Former Gov. Butch Otter appointed Pierce to the Idaho Board of Veterinary Medicine in 2017. He is currently the vice-president of this regulatory board and will be president in 2020. In addition to these professional duties, Pierce is also president of the Sandpoint Community Center, a non-profit organization that continues to work towards building a local ice arena, field house, and community center in the Sandpoint area.
