SPOKANE — It’s over. The Sandpoint girls basketball team was able to end a three-game losing streak Friday night with 59-44 victory over Shadle Park.

Head coach Will Love was happy with how his team played and proud of the resilience they showed.

“It was a good win for us because if we weren’t ready to play tonight they could’ve made it really, really close or actually gotten to us,” he said.

It was a back and forth battle in the first half that saw Sandpoint take a 27-25 lead into the locker room.

Then the third quarter started and the Bulldogs were all over the Highlanders.

“Second half they just came out and took it to Shadle Park,” Love said.

Sandpoint clamped down defensively and contested every shot Shadle Park took, outscoring the Highlanders 16-6 in the third quarter.

And half of those points scored by the Bulldogs came courtesy of senior Dawson Driggs who took control of the game and didn’t let go, helping Sandpoint claim the victory.

“Shadle is really young and they were on their third game in four days so one of the things we were able to do was kind of wear them down,” Love said.

Driggs finished with 13 points and junior Hattie Larson added 12 points and seven rebounds.

Sandpoint turned the ball over 13 times while Shadle Park had 12 turnovers in the game.

The Bulldogs (2-3)return home for the first time in three weeks to face Coeur d’Alene 7 p.m. Tuesday at Les Rogers Court.
