William P. Curl, 65

William “Hippy Bill” Curl, 65, passed away peacefully on Nov. 12, 2019, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, with his best friend Jack by his side.

Hippy Bill was born July 17 1954, to Charles and Ettajane Curl in Iowa City, Iowa.

He traveled around the county before ending up in Sandpoint, Idaho, His first stop was the Tervan (Tam o’ Shanter) where he met some friendly locals. Bill fell in love with the area and decided to make it his forever home. Bill loved camping, fishing, kayaking and never missed a bluegrass festival in the area, He enjoyed his weekend mornings at the Hoot Owl Cafe having breakfast with the Hoot Crew waiting on Jack.

Bill was a hard worker and enjoyed his job at Pacific Steel in Ponderay, Idaho for over 12 years. He would show up every morning at 5 a.m. to make the coffee for the crew and to make sure the office was safe for April when she arrived.

Hippy Bill is survived by his best friend, Jack (Shannon) Laude; his children, Moria Curl and William Curl; his siblings, Michael Curl, Norma Jane Rood, Jacque-line Gale and Charles Curl; his grandchildren, Gabe Curl, Anthony Curl, Cheyann Rainey and Micheal Thompson; along with multiple dear friends.

Bill was proceeded in death by his parents, Charles and Ettajane Curl.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, Dec. 15, 2019, at 3 p.m. at The Hoot Owl Cafe. It is a potluck so bring your favorite dish to share. Join us and share memories and stories of our dear friend Hippy Bill.
