Have a holly, jolly Christmas week of holiday fun

SANDPOINT – ‘Tis the season and the calendar teems with holiday fun and activity.

The PSNI Christmas Market is still going strong (it ends on Saturday) with great gift ideas that support a wonderful cause, and, starting Friday night, the Panida begins a 14-day run of the new film, ‘Cats.’

In addition, the 219 Lounge celebrates Winter Solstice, Saturday brings us the Christmas Bird Count for you birders and Christmas Eve – already a lovely time – is made more magical with Santa’s Balloon Parade up at Schweitzer.

THURSDAY, Dec. 19

Girls Pint Out

Venue: Idaho Pour Authority, 203 Cedar St.

Time: 5-7 p.m.

Cool chicks, great beer and no dudes. It’s the annual holiday food potluck time again. Bring a festive dish made with beer to share and pair with various beverages.

Dennis Wilson will be jamming in the cafe in this free concert. There will be a special appearance by Santa Claus so bring the kids to listen to some great tunes and get in their last-minute Christmas wishes.

Outdoor Recreation Center Grand Opening

Hosted by Kaniksu Land Trust and Sandpoint Nordic Club, there will be bonfires to keep warm and, weather permitting, skiing and snowshoe tours on the trails; hot drinks provided; bring soup or chili to share.

Meet up with the jolly ol’ man himself and Mrs. Claus at the top of Basin Express at 1:45 p.m., get a balloon, and ski down at 2 p.m. Following the parade, Santa heads to the Selkirk Lodge lobby for photos and to hear last-minute wishes from kids young and old! Hot cocoa and cookies will be served.
