Resource center seeking donations

| February 13, 2019 12:00 AM

PRIEST RIVER — PRLHS’s Lamanna Resource Center is seeking canned food donations so they can fulfill their mission of helping students and their families.

The center is in need of canned proteins, such as beans and Spam, and meals, such as beef stew, chili, Hormel variety packs, etc. In addition, the center needs a variety of canned fruits and vegetables as well as dry goods such as pasta and rice. As they have a large stockpiile of ramen noodles, they do not need any more of these for the time being.

If you are able to donate, please feel free to drop off a box or bag at the high school front office and Priest River Lamanna High School’s PRLHS’s 21st Century Community Learning Center Agoge staff will ensure the donations make it to the backpacks for the students in

The Lamanna Resource Center was created to provide supplemental meals and toiletries to support local students and their families, as well as any faculty or staff members who may need assistance, Cherie Coldwell said recently.

The resource center will provide backpacks containing two breakfasts, two lunches, two dinners, and two snacks on Friday afternoons. Additionally, the resource center will be open once a month in the evenings for families and employees to pick up a box containing non-perishable food items as well as toiletries. The resource center is completely free and confidential and distribution will be done in a discreet manner.

Listed below is some information on the new program:

- Students will be provided with food that they can eat at home during weekends and out-of school times. This support is also available for student’s siblings regardless of their enrollment status in school.

- Your child’s information (name, grade, and number of siblings) will be kept confidential and not shared with anyone other than pantry coordinators.

- Please be advised that these bags contain some foods that contain peanuts, nuts, soy, wheat, eggs and milk. All food is labeled and sealed by the manufacturer.

If you want your child to receive a weekly bag of food, call Cherie Coldwell at 208-448-1211, ext. 6.
