Sandpoint crews work to plow snow

SANDPOINT — The National Weather Service’s issuance of a winter storm warning remains in effect until 7 a.m. today for the entire region. The warning calls for an additional snowfall amount up to 4 inches overnight.

Crews have been working around the clock since Monday morning and will continue to plow for the next several days, city officials said. While crews were able to make a single pass on all residential streets, travel in downtown and residential (Priority 3) streets is still difficult and will take some time to clear, they said in an email.

Per city policy, when a single storm results in more than 8 inches of snow, equipment “gates” are not used because they are no longer effective and significantly impact crews’ ability to get to all streets.

As a friendly reminder, snow removed from driveways, sidewalks, and parking lots needs to remain on private property.
