Feb. 17, 1969 — SENSATIONAL SCORING

There was sensational scoring in City League basketball games last week, but the most fantastic exhibition of all — Steve Brixen’s 55 points — nevertheless went for a losing cause.

City Club, with a roster of mostly college players, had difficulty mustering enough men to play Cusick, but with a couple borrowed players and the new addition of Brixen, the club scored 80 points, only to have Cusick’s team total 91. It was a close contest for three quarters until Cusick began moving away in the final minutes.

Brixen, former Sandpoint player who played for North Idaho Junior College and the U of Hawaii, almost had his feat over-shadowed by the 44-point performance of Cusick’s Bill Ives.
