I am writing in response to a letter writer from California who recently opined her lament for a proposed asphalt plant in Sagle. First off, the plant already exists within the city limits of Sandpoint in Bonner County and only wants to relocate to Highway 95 in Sagle for efficiency in location for shorter travel to areas of need and elimination of travel through Sandpoint between two plants, thereby using less fossil fuels and carbon emissions that I’m sure she should get all giddy over.

We live in a modern developed country that requires roadways to move commerce, reach our work destinations and conduct are general daily needs. Last time I checked California has quite of few roads and freeways made of the same asphalt that we require up here or perhaps she having voted liberal leaders into her own state’s leadership repeatedly resulting in huge increases in illegal immigration, crime, taxes, forest fires, loss of lives, increasing migration of businesses fleeing the state, (some to ours, i.e. Buck Knives) traffic congestion, etc.

Now she wants to come to our state and impose her unquestionable lack of foresight and wisdom on us. Please stay in California and enjoy the fruits of your genius decision making and leave us Idahoans to run our own state as we see fit. Oh, and if you don’t want to be poisoned by asphalt don’t chew on it, just use to it to drive on.
