Len Golding in a letter to the editor (Daily Bee, Jan. 22), asked how Nancy Pelosi became Speaker of the House. Stating she had no education and barely won her election, implying she is unqualified. All these statements are totally untrue.

Nancy Pelosi has a degree from Trinity College. She has been in California politics since 1976, and has served in the U.S. House of Representatives since 1987. She has been the House Whip and Minority Leader, before becoming speaker for the first time in 2007 serving as such until 2011. She won her last election by 233,512 votes, representing 86.8 percent of the votes, which is her typical margin.

She was named speaker, because the Democrats won the majority in the house and voted for her to be the speaker. You may not like her, but she is very qualified. Facts matter.
