Vote and make your voice heard March 12

SANDPOINT — The March 12 levy election is just around the corner.

All three school districts in Bonner County will be holding supplemental levy questions in the upcoming election. The Lakeland Joint School District will be holding an election to authorize a supplemental maintenance and operations levy of $8.9 million per year for a period of two years.

The Lake Pend Oreille School District is asking for $12.7 million each year for a period of two years in its supplemental maintenance and operations levy. The West Bonner County School District is also holding an election for a supplemental levy of $3 million each year for two years. West Bonner County School District will have a second question on the ballot authorizing the district to make the supplemental levy permanent.

Every registered voter in Bonner County is eligible to vote on the ballot of the school district they reside in.

Mail-Out absentee voting is under way and the county will accept applications for mailed absentee ballots in the office up until 5 p.m. March 1. Remember that you may request an absentee ballot for all elections throughout the year, but you must apply each year if you wish to continue voting in this manner. Also keep in mind that the voted ballot must be received in the Elections Office at 1500 Highway 2, Suite 124, Sandpoint, ID., by 8:00 p.m. March 12.

In-person absentee voting will begin Monday, Feb. 25 and run through Friday, March 8. It will be held in our Elections Office located in the Bonner County Administration Building at 1500 Highway 2, Ste. 124 (located on the first floor). Office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The Elections Office will be publicly testing its ballot counting equipment on Tuesday, March 5 at 11 a.m. in the Bonner County Administration Building’s first-floor conference room.

Election Day voting will be at your usual polling place.

As always, Idaho allows election-day registration. If you are not registered to vote, you may register and vote at your polling place on Election Day. Make sure to bring photo identification and proof of residence to register.
