POPA sets 'Good Neighbors' production

| February 27, 2019 12:00 AM

Pend Oreille Players presents “Good Neighbors” by John Arnold, as part of its New Works Program. Lisa Benscheidt as Velma, Millie Brumbaugh as her sister, Gloria, and Sophia Aldous as her niece, Ellen, open the story just after Velma’s husband’s funeral. Gloria and Ellen notice, what looks to them to be suspicious new neighbors, moving in across the street. These new neighbors eventually introduce themselves to Velma. They are Metro, played by Ben Kardos, and Spike, played by Robert Balow. The cast is rounded out by Brian, the UPS driver, played by Chris Demlow.

As Velma struggles with her new life alone, we see how her family and her new neighbors interact with her and each other.

The play is not recommended for young children due to content and strong language.

The play is directed by Kristi Bell. “Good Neighbors” is the third new, full length play produced by Pend Oreille Players as a part of our New Works Program. POPA has been working with this script and the playwright since June, 2017. That fall it was presented in Readers’ Theatre format, then the cast and crew had a roundtable discussion with the playwright. Now, in the final stretch we will present the fully staged performance of “Good Neighbors”, opening on March 1st, and running March 2, 3, 8, 9, and closing on March 10. Performances on Fridays and Saturdays begin at 7 p.m., and Sundays at 3 p.m..

Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for First Responders and Seniors, 65 and over.

Tickets may be purchased online at www.pendoreilleplayers.org or at the door.
