Plea resolves assault case

PRIEST RIVER — A Bonner County woman is being ordered to serve 80 hours on the sheriff’s labor program after entering a plea to a reduced charge in a felony assault case.

Jennifer Ann Ross was originally charged with aggravated assault for allegedly threatening another woman with a knife at a Priest River residence in October. The alleged victim told Priest River Police that Ross swung the knife at her during the altercation and threatened to disfigure her face with it, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Ross, 32, admitted possessing the knife during the confrontation, but told police she kept the blade pointed at the ground.

Ross, formerly known as Jennifer Lamanna, was charged with felony assault and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. In exchange for a plea of guilt, the assault charge was amended to disturbing the peace. The paraphernalia charge remained unchanged.

Judge Lori Meulenberg imposed concurrent 90-day jail sentences with 66 days suspended, 10 days of discretionary jail time and credit for four days of pretrial incarceration. Ross was ordered to serve 80 days in the labor program in lieu of serving time in jail, court records indicate.
