Vintage Snowmobile Races set for Saturday

Classes have been set for this weekend’s Vintage Snowmobile Races in Priest Lake.

Classes include:

- 340 — Stock 340 74-older, Stock 340 Fan 75-85, Stock 340 Free Air 75-85, Stock 340 Liquid 85 & older, Super Stock 340 Fan, Super Stock 340 FA/Liquid, and Mod 340 85 & Older.

- 440 — Stock 440 74 & older, Stock 440 Fan 75-85, Stock 440 Free Air 75-85, Stock 440 Liquid 85 & older, Super Stock 440 Fan, Super Stock 440 FA/Liquid, and

Mod 440 85 & Older.

- Single Cylinder Stock 85 & older, Single Cylinder Mod 85 & older, Stock 500 85 & older, Women’s Stock up to 440 Fan/FA, Women’s Super Stock up to 440 Fan/FA, Masters 55+ Super Stock up to 440 FAN/FA, Jrs Stock 340 Fan age 12-17, Jrs Stock 440 Fan age 12-17, 120 Stock up to age 11, 120 Mod up to age 11, and open class up to 85 and older sleds & motors.

Three sleds make a class; all classes subject to change.

The 2019 racing season includes Dec. 30 in Mullan, Jan. 5 at Priest Lake, Jan. 25-26 in Sheridan, Wyo., and Feb. 9 at Priest Lake. In addition, a racer reunion will be held July 20 at Priest Lake.

Preregistration will be held 7-8 a.m. and racing begins at 9 a.m. each day. Registration can be done online or at Hills Resort the Friday before each day of racing. Friday night registration will be from 6-8 p.m.

Parking and entry fees will be donations with all money going toward the Priest Lake Lions Club and Vintage Snowmobile Racing Priest Lake.

Online payment can be made via PayPal, or by credit or debit cards upon completing registration. Those who pre-register before 8 p.m. on Jan. 4 will have a chance to win a $100 Wahl Brothers gift certificate, two nights stay at The Inn at Priest Lake, or Fly Racing $100 Fly Dollars and one of other prizes.

To race, drivers must have a tether attached when on their sled and a full-face helmet is advised with goggles or a face shield. Helmets must be worn by riders while on their sled and track run-up stands are required with no lifting of sleds allowed. In addition, upper body protection is required (motocross style legal), and knee and shin guards as well as neck braces are recommended.

High visible colors are recommended with orange requested. No alcohol will be allowed in the pits.

In addition to Saturday’s races, races also will be held Feb. 9 in Priest Lake.
