PRIEST LAKE — The Welcome Home Veterans Quilts of Valor group is privileged to award a Quilt of Valor to U.S. Navy Veteran Donald Brooks.

The quilt was awarded to Brooks on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018, at the Priest Lake Community Church.

Brooks actively served in the Korean War from 1951-1954 on the aircraft carriers USS Boxer and USS Yorktown, after which he served two years in the active reserve. This quilt represents the 200,000th quilt awarded to Veterans, from the National Quilts of Valor Foundation, since its inception in 2003. As of the writing of this article, 209,110 quilts have been awarded nationally. We want to extend our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Mr. Brooks and to all veterans, for their service in the United States military, as we continue to remain the land of the free and the home of the brave. Welcome Home Mr. Brooks!
