Boating safety class announced

SANDPOINT — U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary offers a boating safety and seamanship course in February and March.

The course will cover navigation, charting, mechanics, rules of the road, courtesies and customs, seamanship, ropes and knots, sailing basics, boat part identification, safety procedures and more.

Certificates are presented upon completion of course examination. Most insurance companies offer a discount on boat insurance to policy holders who have certification.

Class will run on Feb. 18, 20, 25, 27 and March 4, 6, 11, 13 from 7-9:30 p.m. at the USFS conference room, 1602 Ontario St. For detailed class information call Mark 208-255-1125 or Brian at 208-946-3994.

Cost is $35. Class fee includes manual and test materials. Registration deadline is Feb. 14.
