Fulfilling the foreseen in 2019

Well, 2018 “is in the history books,” and 2019 is just beginning to be written. Regardless of how you feel about the past year, a new year offers new opportunities to experience the fulfillment of things that have been foreseen from before the beginning of time. This truth — and the hope that it brings — is very clear in scripture, and is a truth that we must embrace and act upon, in order to “make the most” of the opportunities that come our way.

“Fulfilling the foreseen in 2019” is the goal we are claiming for our church this year, and is based upon these fundamental biblical truths. Included in these are a God who foresees all things from beginning to end, who fulfills every one of His promises, purposes and plans, and who has chosen to work through anyone and everyone who chooses to make themselves available for such a privilege. Jesus — “the Fulfillment of the Ages” (1 Corinthians 10:12) — is our prime example and inspiration in this, and calls us to follow Him in being used to “Fulfill the foreseen in 2019.”

As we follow Jesus’ example this year, we will find ourselves presented with new opportunities every day to be used by Him to fulfill in our lives (and in the lives of others) what God had foreseen for us even before we were born.

“With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith. We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.” (2 Thessalonians 1:11-12) Amen.
