Open call auditions on tap for 'Annie'

Open call auditions for the musical “Annie”, presented by Growing Dreams Productions, Inc., and SHS Mime & Masque will be on Monday, Jan. 14, and Tuesday, Jan. 15, beginning at 3:15 p.m. each day at the Sandpoint High School auditorium.

Callbacks, if necessary, will happen on Wednesday, January 16th, at the same time and place. Everyone ages 8-18 is welcome to audition. There are both singing and non-singing roles among the approximately 60 roles to be cast next week. Students are asked to arrive a few minutes early and plan to stay for the entire audition. Be sure to send snacks and water with your child.

Those auditioning should arrive prepared with a memorized one-minute monologue. Younger students may simply tell a familiar story to the audience. Youth only need audition on one of the days to be considered. Monologue ideas are available on the Growing Dreams Productions Facebook page. Auditions will include performing your monologue, cold reading lines, dancing and singing. The song and the dance for the auditions will be taught during the auditions. Those auditioning should expect to stay for the entire audition as the afternoon will entail both group and individual performances. There are 50-60 roles available, some of which require no singing.

The cast list will be posted on the Growing Dreams Productions, Inc., Facebook page by Thursday night, Jan.17. Rehearsals will begin the following week. Rehearsal specifics will be available with cast list.

Plucky and optimistic, Orphan Annie captures our hearts and inspires us to sing out loud. Annie will take the stage April 12, 13, 18, 19 and 20, 2019, at 7 p.m. The family show will be a matinee on Saturday, April 13, at 2 p.m. All shows are performed at the SHS Venishnick Auditorium.

Annie will be directed by Jeannie Hunter, with musical direction by Jon Brownell, stage management by Emma Ferguson, student assistant director by Kirsten Baker, costumes by Angie Aller, and the help of many dedicated parents and volunteers.

Partial and full tuition scholarships are available to qualifying families. Tuition for Annie is $150. This includes a T-shirt for your child and two tickets to see the show.
