Dagmar Kirking, 94
Dagmar Kirking, 94, passed away on Monday, January 14, 2019, in Sandpoint, Idaho. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 18, 2019, at the First Lutheran Church with Pastors Lori Morton and Steve Neuder officiating.
Dagmar was born on June 9, 1924, in Ponderay, Idaho, to Anton and Christine Haugness.
She graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1942. One of her first jobs was working as a stenographer for attorney Allen Asher. Later, she worked for the employment office processing unemployment claims.
Dagmar married Marvin Kirking on November 15, 1952, in Sandpoint. The couple lived in Sagle from 1961-2005.
She was a member of the First Lutheran Church (from birth), and Sagle Live & Learn Club. She enjoyed music, cross stitch, and belonged to a number of pinochle groups. She very much enjoyed going to rodeos across the North-west and traveled to Las Vegas to attend the PRCA National Finals. She was also an avid Mariners and Gonzaga Basketball fan and rarely missed a game on TV.
She loved camping throughout the Northwest and made many trips to Farragut, the Yaak and the Oregon coast.
Christmas for her included lutefisk, lefse and sandbakkels. The family awoke on every Independence Day to Mom blasting various patriotic marches on the stereo! She loved all her animals especially her dogs, Crulla, Mush, Cody, Molly and Snowy and all the grandanimals. She loved spoiling her grandkids and especially her great-grandson, Wyatt. Each full moon, Dagmar and Marvin would buy ice cream and find a place at the lake to sit, relax and enjoy the beautiful night.
Dagmar is survived by her husband, Marvin Kirking of Sandpoint; three children, Matt (Donna) Kirking of El Sobrante, California, Brett (Pam) Kirking of Post Falls, Idaho, and Jill (Mick) Lee of Spokane, Wash.; four grandchildren, Madison and Amandalyn Kirking, Jordan (Katlyn) Lee, and Bryan Lee; and one great-grandson Wyatt Lee.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Haakon and Arthur Haugness; and three sisters, Rachel Stueckle, Altona Wigen, and Hazel Jensen.
