SANDPOINT — A candlelight vigil is being held on Saturday to celebrate the life of Andre Hyder, the 2-year-old who died in a structure fire last weekend.

The vigil is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Farmin Park on North Third Avenue. The site is already home to a memorial featuring a frame photo of Hyder, balloons and stuffed animals.

Hyder was found dead following a structure fire at his father’s home in the early-morning hours of Saturday, Jan. 12. Hyder’s father and a woman managed to escape the blaze, but were unable to save the toddler, who died of smoke inhalation, according officials with Selkirk Fire Rescue & EMS.

The fire has been ruled accidental and remains under investigation by the Idaho State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Two fundraising accounts have been established through GoFundMe to aid Hyder’s family with funeral expenses.
