SANDPOINT — A 2-year-old girl was killed in a T-bone collision on Highway 200 at Sunnyside Road on Monday morning, according to Idaho State Police.

State police said Keanu M. Dooley was westbound when he attempted to turn left onto the county road. A 2017 Ford F-350 pickup truck driven by Wesley J. Free was eastbound and collided with the passenger side of Dooley’s 1998 Subaru Forester.

The toddler was in a child safety seat in the compact crossover sport utility vehicle, but died at the scene of the 7:44 a.m. crash, state police said.

“She was properly restrained in a safety seat,” District 1 ISP officials said in a tweet posted to the social media site Twitter.

Neither Dooley, a 22-year-old from Sandpoint, nor Free, a 29-year-old from Sagle, were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision, state police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
