AARP seeking Tax-Aide volunteers

| January 23, 2019 12:00 AM

The AARP Tax-Aide program is underway in the community and the organization is looking for folks interested in learning to prepare taxes. Training and a test will be required, however, there are other parts of the Tax-Aide program that do not require testing. Testing will begin as soon as you apply.

If you’re interested in being a Tax-Aide volunteer, go online to https://bit.ly/29TjVOM

The program starts Feb. 1 and lasts until April 15.

Please bring all of the information that is needed to complete your return: Social Security cards for all members in the household, work-related W-2s, retirement 1099s, educational information, child care, any information for Schedule A to increase your standard deduction. If you have insurance through the marketplace exchange, you will receive a 1095-A in the mail and it has to be brought with you.

Be sure that it states that it’s your final report on all stockbrocker accounts. Also, don’t forget to bring in your tax return from last year.

Be aware of the changes for the Affordable Care Act. This requires more paperwork on your part. If you have insurance through Medicare, Medicaid, your employer, any insurance which constitutes minimum essential coverages, it’s checkmark away.
