I’m probably the least tenured resident in this community. However, my wife and I have finally fulfilled our dream of relocating to Sagle. After many years of surveying and visiting twice a year, we’ve found our utopia in the Tamarack Estates development. Now we may be faced with the possibility of having to relocate.

The board concluded that since Sagle Water District had no response to either confirm or deny the allegations of leakage to the Sagle Aquifer, they could not hold Interstate hostage from moving forward.

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality stated that if such documentation was required, this could postpone the advancement of the relocation up to 140 days. Also, the IDEQ concluded that at this time, there is no such mechanism to monitor the leakage of contaminants.

If Interstate is the good neighbor they profess to be, why did they not perform, at the very least, a cost analysis of monitoring the surrounding aquifers. In my opinion, this research could have relieved much angst and compunction in the community.

The current air monitoring station is located off Highway 2, I believe on the U.S. Forest grounds. It was also stated that, at this time, there are no provisions in place for a closer monitoring air station. If there is an additional air monitoring station, it will have to be approved by either P&Z or IDEQ. I cannot totally recall the appropriate agency.

Interstate is concerned with financial gain and retaining 36 employees. This is understandable. However, the 85 to 100 residents at this forum witnessed a very one side agenda and were disregarded.
