Duane H. 'Dewey' Kock, 93

Duane H. “Dewey” Kock, 93, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho, on Sunday, January 27, 2019.

Family services will be conducted later in the summer.

Dewey was born on October 19, 1925, in Alvord, Iowa, the son of Harold and Harriet Kock.

He graduated from high school in Beaver Creek, Minn., in 1944. He would later serve with the U.S. Navy, from 1944 until 1950, in the South Pacific, at the end of World War II. He later worked for Northrup Grum-man Corp, as an electronics technician, working on the aircraft of the day and the space probes.

In 1986 he moved to Shady Cove, Oregon, operating a “collectible sales space” then moving to the Sandpoint area in 2000 and marrying Maxine on October 17, 2000.

He was a regular at the Sagle Flea Market, and had garage sales, on Division Avenue, offering “good deals on tools.”

Dewey is survived by his wife, Maxine, in Sandpoint; his children, Duane and Amanda Cagle in Oregon City, Ore.; Jim and Seaneen Kock in Gresham, Ore.; Barbara Carolus in Gig Harbor, Wash.; Jeff and Tabitha Summerton in Sandpoint; Mike Brown in Seattle, Wash.; Keia and Brahmin Curington in in Sandpoint; Joe and Norma Kock in Portland, Ore.; and Chris Schafer in Sandpoint. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, a grandchild and a great-grandchild.
