Want to compete in the Olympics — the STEaM Olympics, that is?

You’ll have just that chance as the Priest River Lamanna High School STEaM Club, 21st Century Community Learning Center, and Gear Up will be hosting their annual STEaM Olympics event. As part of the event, businesses and community members will have booths set up in the gym with hands-on activities that students, parents, and patrons of all grade levels can compete in at and get a score.

The STEaM Club emphasizes the skills the students learn throughout school that are applied in industries later in their careers. Everyone in the community is invited to come join the fun. Activities will take place from 5-7 p.m. at high school gym and scores are announced as the teams compete like any great athletic event.

Brochures are available at all WBCS school offices for registering your teams. Participants also may register the night of the event from 3-4:30 p,.m. at the door. Dinner, with the cost by donation, will be provided 4-7 p.m. All are welcome to come watch the event from the stands.

An awards ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. Awards so far include gift cards and prizes from Mama Mac’s, Mitchells, Infinity Café, Burger Express, Breakfast Hut, Salon Soto Terra, Papa Murphy’s, and ACE.Awards will be given to the top three winning teams, some specialty awards, and several drawings for local businesses at the booths that come out and support the event. Frank Pangburn from Truckin’ for Kids is donating $100 per student for the winning team and Idaho Forest Group is donating $1,000 to STEaM Club for scholarship funds.
