Sharon Lou Jones

| January 31, 2019 12:00 AM

Sharon Lou Jones went to be with her Lord on January 2, 2019. She died at her home in Clark Fork, Idaho, after a hard battle with kidney disease.

Sharon was born in Oakland, California, to Phillip and Melba (Tennis) Shaw. She was raised in Oakland and graduated from Castlemont High School in 1964. Sharon attended adult classes for math and secretarial skills after graduation.

There will be a celebration of life at noon on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at the River of Life Church in Sandpoint with Pastor Ken Lawrence overlooking the service.

Sharon met William K. Jones just after Thanksgiving 1966 and it was love at first sight for both of them and four months later on March 10, 1967, they were married in Reno, Nevada. It has been an adventure for over 50 years.

Sharon was very active with the Navy wife’s organization while living on base, being a teacher’s aide and a Girl Scout leader. She has always been involved in their church where ever they were living, including a hand bell choir and always felt like she had a special church family, whether in Adak, Alaska, Lemoore, California, or Sandpoint, Idaho. Sharon’s faith was strong.

Sharon and William fell in love with Sandpoint the first time they crossed the Long Bridge in 1982 and eventually was able to retire here permanently in 1993. Sharon always loved volunteering and working kids or adults, especially the ones with special needs. She was very crafty, loved arranging flowers, camping, four-wheel drive clubs, playing cards, taking care of their home, but most of all being with her family.

Sharon always had a special talent for finding the most unique gifts, gadgets ands stocking stuffers. She taught you how to always make sure there was enough dinner for one more. To trust in the Lord always and to remember family is very important as well is forgiveness. To always do what you feel is the best choice and to never do anything half way. She had a great green thumb when it came to house plants just like her mother. Sharon was always great with hospitality, showing kindness and helping others. She had a great work ethic; she enjoyed life and could even make getting fire wood an adventure!

Sharon is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Phillip Jr. Shaw; niece Dawn Lester; and her granddaughter, Alli Lies. She is survived by her husband, William Jones; her children, Sherri (Scott) Lies of Sagle, Idaho, Mike (Ruth) Jones of Moyie Springs, Idaho, and Joseph Jones of Clark Fork; her siblings, Stan (Sally) Shaw, Ron (Maureen) Shaw, and Karen Haight; her grandchildren, Alan Lies, Amanda (Brandan) Dlugosch, Austin Lies, Avery Lies, Frankie, Williams, Tanner (Alyssa) Leirmann, Talia Leirmann, William Jones, Michael Jones, Zoe Jones, Bernice Jones, Dodge Jones, Ezra Jones and Blaze Jones; great-grandchildren, Mackenzee, Camden, Daphnee and Holly; and many cousins, nephews and nieces.

We are all blessed to have this beautiful woman a part of our lives and she will be forever missed!
