DOLL COLLECTION TO MUSEUM
A recent presentation to the Bonner County Museum, on behalf of Gertie Schwin and her late husband, of 27 handcrafted inaugural gowns, in doll form, of our nation’s first ladies adds a rare and unique display for generations to enjoy.
The collection, which represents two years of work by Mrs. John Schwin, was given to the Museum as a parting gift from the longtime Bonner county resident. Mrs. Schwin celebrated her 85th birthday this month and after 35 years in this area, has moved to Mercer Island, Wash., to live with her daughter, Mrs. Claude Hart.
Each doll is 18 inches tall, and each costume is as complete and authentic as Mrs. Schwin’s research and needle could produce — including slips, jewelry and hand bags. Every costume from Mrs. Washington to Mrs. Truman has a story.

Northern Idaho News
July 2, 1919 — BATTERY C RETURNS
Northern Pacific trains No. 41 and No. 3 on Saturday brought the principal contingent of Bonner county soldiers who were released a month ago from active service with the American army of occupation in Germany, and sailed from France the 3d (sic) of June.
Members of old Company A, and other Bonner county boys, most wearing the little v-shaped chevron denoting overseas service, have come in one at a time and by twos and threes since the signing of the armistice, and were welcomed no less heartily than the main body, and there are others, detained for one cause or another, who will still be coming; but Saturday was the big day and the arrival of “the bunch” was the big event for which the county has been waiting and planning since last November.
