Sandpoint Bombers win ninth grade competitive division title at Hoopfest
SPOKANE — The Sandpoint Bombers team — consisting of ninth graders Kelsey Cessna, Daylee Driggs and Karlie Banks, plus eighth grader Peyton Cessna — went a perfect 5-0 en route to a ninth grade high school competitive division title at Hoopfest, held in Spokane, Washington from June 29-30.
The Bombers beat Q-Town and Dunkin Donutz to advance on June 29, which set up a pair of games against The Queens of Swish and Gig Harbor on June 30. The Bombers won both games handily.
With a spot secured in the championship game, the Bombers watched as The Queens of Swish battled their way back to the finals.
The Bombers dispatched The Queens of Swish again in the championship game to take the title.
The Bombers’ bracket consisted of a dozen formidable opponents, primarily from Washington high schools.
