What will it take for fair gas prices in town?

| July 2, 2019 1:00 AM

As of Tuesday, June 25, the price of a gallon of gas In Coeur d’Alene is $2.55, Spokane is $2.64, Bonners Ferry $2.77, and Sandpoint is still over $3 a gallon, according to gasbuddyidaho.com. In April and May of this year, I had to travel to Spokane daily for nine weeks for medical treatments, and became painfully aware of the noticeable price differential. In early May, I watched the price of gas in Post Falls drop below $3 a gallon, while in Sandpoint, it increased to $3.18. Throughout May, gas steadily decreased in Coeur d’Alene, Post Falls and even in Spokane, while remaining high in Sandpoint. Needless to say, during those weeks of commuting, I made it a point to always fill up in Coeur d’Alene or Post Falls.

How many 7B license plates does one see filling up at the Coeur d’Alene Costco? What will it take for Sandpoint residents to get a fair shake at the gas pumps here? Next time you get gas in Sandpoint, ask the manager.
