Fire department hosting open house

The open house, which is from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., will be held at Coolin-Cavanaugh Bay Fire Department, 171 Cavanaugh Bay Road, Coolin.

In addition to lunch being served by the department’s firefighters, including ice cream donated by Ardy’s Cafe, Smokey Bear will be on hand to visit with the young and young at heart, there will be music by Dr. Scott and fire engine rides. There also will be fire safety demonstrations, children’s games with prizes and face painting, mini-massages by Kiva Therapeudic and more.

In addition, the open house will offer a chance to learn about joining the fire department as a volunteer as the district is losing several volunteers due to relocation, illness and/or aging out of the ability to volunteer.
