A few things about the Bay Trail, fundraiser
Thanks for Sunday’s front-page feature story about the Pend d’Oreille Bay Trail, which is well-loved by many of us in the community. On behalf of the Friends of the Pend d’Oreille Bay Trail, I’d like to make a couple of clarifications regarding use of the trail.
First, dogs are allowed off-leash along the entire Bay Trail, as long as they are under voice control.
Secondly, swimming is allowed along the trail, although reaching the water can be difficult due to the large bank-stabilizing rocks. On the northeast end of the trail, the Corps of Engineers built ramps leading to the water making lake access easier. Meanwhile, the Friends are planning to build steps to the water by the Humbird Mill ruins.
You can support improvements such as this by attending the Bum Jungle Bash, an upcoming benefit for the Friends of the Pend d’Oreille Bay Trail, from 6 to 9 p.m. this Thursday, July 11, at Matchwood Brewing. Check out pobtrail.org for more information.
