| July 10, 2019 1:00 AM

Bonner General Health recently named Angela Wheeler the new nurse manager of their surgery department. Wheeler joined the Sandpoint hospital in May 2019.

Her role includes supervising surgery staff including registered nurses, certified surgical technologists, housekeepers, surgery schedulers, anesthesia registered nurses, as well as the Post Anesthesia Care Unit.

Wheeler received her associate degree in nursing from Walla Walla Com-munity College in 2008, and has 11 years of nursing experience. Wheeler moved to Sandpoint from Goldendale, Washington, where she was the surgery manager for Klickitat Valley Health.

Wheeler’s clinical rotation in nursing school was in surgery. She managed an outpatient surgery center along with an inpatient surgery department, and worked as an occupation health nurse manager.

“I chose Bonner General Health because of the reputation of the hospital,” Wheeler said in a press release about why she chose to come work at Bonner General.

“The staff here since the first contact has been really nice and welcoming. When I came up for my interview every employee I came in contact with was really nice. While here in town I asked around the community about the hospital and everyone had nothing but wonderful things to say about the physicians and staff.

“Since coming up to the area the community has been very friendly and welcoming.”
