The only sensible option is for city to kill the geese
Congratulations to Helen Newton on her fine letter regarding the goose problem at City Beach. The bottom line is the geese must go if you are to have a usable beach. Then you must have a City Council with enough backbone to do the job.
Fact 1: There are too many geese making the beach almost unusable.
Fact 2: Relocating geese is not feasible as most will return. (Ask most biologists.) It’s a waste of taxpayer money to continue relocation.
Fact 3: The only sensible option is to kill enough of them to alleviate the problem. This, of course, will make animal rights groups angry (like our own humane society). Denver has finally confronted their goose problem by killing geese. The geese are salvaged and the meat given away.
With all this turmoil over a simple solution, one wonders about the “gray matter.” Turmoil does sell papers though.
It’s about time that “tree huggers” know where toilet paper comes from and animal rights groups recognize we all aren’t vegetarians. Lewis and Clark ate dogs to survive. Wonder what the cost to taxpayers is for our local humane society? Could and should money be spent on humans? Animals are not human.
God bless America (under God),
