Hooking Kids on Golf Tournament sign-ups open

Sign-ups for the fourth-annual Hooking Kids on Golf Don Leen Memorial Tournament, held at Sandpoint Elks Golf Course on July 21, have opened. The kids tournament starts at 9 a.m. while the adult tournament follows at around 1 p.m.

Proceeds from both tournaments go towards the youth program and Don Leen fund, both of which aim to perpetuate youth golf.

During the kids tournament, participants will play with parents, grandparents or another adults of their choosing. Free hot dogs and hamburgers are included in the admissions cost for this tournament. The winner of the nine-hole tournament will get their name engraved on a trophy.

The adult section of tournament begins after the kids winners are announced at around 1 p.m. The format is a nine-hole, four-person team scramble. Players cannot follow their shots. Prizes will be awarded.

Cost for the kids tournament is $25 per adult and $5 per kid, while the adult section costs $30 per entrant. Both prices include green fees. Golf carts are not included in the fees, but can be reserved through the Elks Golf Course.

For players who lack a team, the tournament organizers will match you up with other singles or pairs.
