ITA seeks Deer Creek trail volunteers
The Idaho Trails Association is looking for volunteers to help do maintenance work on the Deer Creek Trail #448 on the very upper end of the Coeur d’Alene River in the Idaho Panhandle National Forest.
ITA volunteers will be removing logs from the trail, cutting back brush, repairing the tread, and doing other trail maintenance chores. Volunteers can work on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday or any one or more of these days.
Volunteers who will stay for more than one day will have a great place to pitch a tent near their cars in Jordan Camp, which is right on the river. The camp has a vault toilet, nice grassy sites, and a great swimming hole.
The Deer Creek trail starts on the Coeur d’Alene River National Recreation Trail #20 and goes up a beautiful valley to the ridge tops near Whitetail Peak. Volunteers will use hand tools provided by the ITA. Experienced ITA personnel will provide skills training and instruction for volunteers who are new to trail maintenance.
