Check out the past in old school yearbooks

My high school reunion is this weekend. It has gotten me thinking about some of the friends and hair styles I used to have back in school. I graduated from Sandpoint High School and I still have all of my yearbooks … somewhere.

You can browse local yearbooks at the Sandpoint Branch Library in the Special Collections case, where they are sorted by school and organized by year. If you want to crack one open and see how many people you remember from your graduating class, you can request access at the Information Desk.

We also have most of the Sandpoint High School yearbooks digitized (1990-2018, sans 1992, 1998, and 2017) as well as the 2017-2018 Sandpoint Middle School yearbook. You can find them in the online catalog by searching “sandpoint yearbooks and limiting the search to “Reference.” The CDs are kept at the Information Desk, so you can skip the search process if you want to and just ask one of our friendly librarians for assistance.

Lake Pend Oreille High School yearbooks have all been posted online for several years, but you can access the physical books that were published by searching the catalog. You can also find a few University of Idaho yearbooks from the 1950’s. Who knew?

Take a walk down memory lane with a yearbook at The Library. Maybe you’ll discover that your hairdo in your yearbook photo is back in style.

- Saturdays — Bookmobile at Farmer’s Market, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Farmin Park. Browse books, movies, and music. Sign up for a library card. Pick up holds (reserved materials) or return items. Chat with Michelle, our friendly bookmobile driver. Bookmobile will be at the Farmer’s Market every Saturday through the season. Information: 208-290-3622.

- Saturdays — Little Mozarts Music Class, 10:30 a.m., a music class series at The Library from the Music Conservatory of Sandpoint. Program runs through Aug. 3. Information: 208-263-6930, ext. 1211.

- Tuesdays — Storytime, 11 a.m., Clark Fork branch library. Stories, music, and crafts geared to ages 3-8. All welcome. Information: 208-266-1321.

- Tuesdays — Explore virtual reality (drop-in sessions), 3-6 p.m., drop-in 15-minute sessions. First come, first served. All ages welcome. Under 18 must accompany parent consent form. - StoryWalk — Pages from a children’s book are posted along a trail for a fun, family experience.
