Jeanetta Marie Riley's death has an impact years later

| July 28, 2019 1:00 AM

The only person of color in the last 30 years that I have lived in Bonner county that has been the the victim of racism and xenophobia was Jeanetta Marie Riley, Who was mercilessly gunned down by the Sandpoint police after she was brought to Bonner General Hospital for help.

A white police officer jumped out of his car and within seconds started spraying bullets, executing Jeanetta with no thought about public safety.

The white members of the Bonner County Human Rights Task Force deemed this violation of her human rights justified.

The white occupants of Sandpoint city hall continue to victimize Jeanetta, her unborn child and surviving family with frivolous motions fighting their lawsuit and pursuit of justice.

The mayor and the rest of Sandpoint city hall could save themselves $8,000 trying to find the white supremacy that threatens the community well being, the public safety and that is bad for the economy; that threatens our community identity as a safe place to live and raise a family; threatens the quality of life and our future welfare — just by looking in the mirror.
