June 16, 1969 – TYPEWRITER STOLEN

An IBM typewriter was stolen from the First Presbyterian Church, Fourth and Alder.

GAS TANK DRAINED

C.R. Chehock, 421 S. Second, reported his pickup’s gasoline tank was drained Friday night.

MECHANICAL HORSE RIFLED

The mechanical horse at Safeway (Alder and 2nd) was hauled away and left by Dr. Munson’s clinic next door, with the coin box removed.

TROOP 423 COURT OF AWARDS

Girl Scout Junior Troop 423, led by Mrs. William Lien and Mrs. Ralph Sperber, met at Washington School Thursday for a court of awards. Donna Plaster, Cindy Lien, Tam Watts, Katy Sperber, Sharon Buck, Carla Ridley, Laura Eskridge, Lisa Oestmann, Linda Parsons, Leslie Pratt, Carol Gaston and Laura Raynor received one year membership stars, world association pins and some 27 junior Girl Scout badges.

NEW SANDPOINT FABRIC STORE

Mrs. Beverly (Bob) Johnson has opened the Green Pebble fabric shop on North First in the former home of Sayers Jewelers. The business will feature knit fabrics in synthetics and cottons, notions and imported Norwegian sweaters. Baby clothing and gifts are also stocked.

June 16, 1919 – CITY BREVITIES

Red Cross headquarters were moved this week from the Farmin building on Cedar street to the building on Second recently vacated by the Sandpoint Paint & Oil company.

Mrs. Charles Senft returned Saturday from Lewiston where she attended commencement exercises of the state normal, her daughter Miss Blanche being one of the graduating class.

ROWLANDS BUYS RANDALL LOT

D.J. Rowlands has purchased the Randall lot and building at the corner of First and Church. The 30-foot frontage extends through to Second, and Mr. Rowlands intends to construct a new building through to Second avenue with another season. Another transaction made by Mr. Rowlands this week was the sale of his residence property at 509 Euclid to L.H. Graves.

CITY AID FOR BOTTLE BAY ROAD

Sandpoint merchants and business men will be asked to contribute $2500 to the construction of the proposed county road in to Bottle bay, according to a report at yesterday’s Sandpoint Commercial club meeting. It was stated that $2500 was raised by the Peninsula ranchers and the county commissioners feel the road is a direct benefit to Sandpoint storekeepers, who should be willing to help with the project.
