We like being lied to. When the truth doesn’t agree with our worldview, we don’t want to hear it. That’s why we watch and listen to news programs that reinforce our beliefs and we so easily accept the lies of our political leaders and talking heads.
The truth is usually scary, which is why we prefer being lied to. The problem is, eventually the truth catches up to us.
If a lie fits our worldview and that is what we want to hear, somehow we convince ourselves that the lie is the truth and the truth is fake news. We really want to be lied to, especially when the truth is too painful or does not fit our worldview.
The biggest lie is that the other side that is lying and we know what the truth is.
