Fishing derby winners named

The Koocanusa Resort’s 17th annual fishing derby attracted 308 people and 115 boats. Total payout for the recent 2019 derby was $6,160.

First place in the rainbow trout division went to Scott Pardee, who caught a 6-pound, 15-ounce fish to claim the $1,724.80 prize. Finishing second was Patrick Bouroncle, who caught a 6-pound, 10-ounce fish to claim a $1,232 prze. Third place honors went to Edward Weiner, who caught a 6-pound, 7-ounce fish to claim the $985.60 prize. Dave Brandt won fourth-place honors with a 6-pound, 5-ounce rainbow; and Larry Lewis and Russ Nelson tied for fifth place, each catching a 5-pound, 14-ounce rainbow and receiving $246.40 each in prize money.

Charlie Carvey was the top angler in the kokanee division, catching a 7-pound, 6-ounce fish to claim the $616 in prize money. In second place was Steve Peters, who caught a 6-pound, 4-ounce fish to win $369.60. In third place was Tracy George, who caught a 6-pound, 3-ounce fish to win $246.46 in prize money.
