Suspect in thefts arrested

PONDERAY — A sharp eye and social media lead has identified an alleged mobile phone bandit who struck Bonner County last spring.

Alexander Pascal Moore is charged with two counts of burglary, court records show. He is accused of entering Walmart and Wireless Works on March 18 in order to commit theft, according to a criminal complaint.

Moore, a 33-year-old from Spokane, was identified by a Walmart asset protection specialist spotted a photo Ponderay Police posted to the department’s Facebook page in April, a probable cause affidavit said. The official identified Moore, who was also was a suspect in the theft of two smartphones at Walmart on the same day as the Wireless Works theft.

Surveillance video from Wireless Works showed Moore inquiring about wireless plans and making off with a $1,000 iPhone XS device when the clerk went to retrieve the information, the affidavit said. The phones taken from Walmart, meanwhile, were cut from their security cables.

Moore was being held on theft charges in Kootenai County when he was identified as a suspect in the Bonner County burglaries. Moore is accused of misdemeanor theft at a Verizon store in Coeur d’Alene, according to court documents.

Moore was also arrested on a warrant from Spokane County alleging second-degree theft and identity theft, court records show.
