To be transparent, I live in Heron, therefore, do not vote in Idaho. However, I have worked for LPOSD for over half a decade. The controversy over this levy is absolutely baffling to me.

Here is a simple equation. Seven dollars a month times 12 months equals $84 per year divided by 3,845 students equals less than two and a half cents per student per year.

The cynics squabble over the perceived greed from the LPOSD administration yet fail to see their own greediness. Who can deny the scholastic benefits of each and every student for a meager two-and-a-half-cents a year?

As for the pay increase, an additional reality is that employees throughout our district, who are some of the least compensated in the state, frequently spend their hard earned income to purchase things for their students: food, clothing, toiletries, items for athletic activities, fundraising, and school supplies.

What could be more philanthropic than providing an education in safe, clean schools, offering extra-curriculum opportunities, and guiding them to be productive members of society?

Our children are essential to making the world a better place. Consider voting yes in favor of this levy. Can anyone look a child in the eyes and tell them to their face they are not worth two and a half cents?
