Would someone please explain the purpose of the “antiquated” Electoral College to Lawrence Fury. He must have attended one of the many “progressive” high schools where the Constitution of the United States is no longer part of the curriculum. Explain to him that the United States is a republic not democracy.

Six counties in California provided Hillary Clinton with her three-million vote plurality. (When applying for a driver’s license in California — citizen or not — one is automatically registered to vote?) In the 2016 national election, the metropolitan cities/states voted Democrat. The more rural towns/states voted Republican.

So if you like what you see in California — abolish the “antiquated” Electoral College and “California values” will be coming to North Idaho and right soon. The Electoral College was included in the Constitution to ensure that metropolitan cities/states could not dominate all national elections. Eliminate it and candidates for national elections will campaign only in the the densely populated cities/states.

At some point, even Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will figure out that Idaho has no real impact in national elections. Fact is Idaho is a “drain” on the nation as a whole. We’re a welfare state: Idaho receives approximately $3,900 per person more in federal tax benefits than we pay in federal taxes. How long will it be before the “swamp” in Washington, D.C., concludes that we don’t share the nations values and lifestyle? The states that keep the “swamp” full need to be rewarded. “Unless you have the votes; you’re no longer important to them.”
