CANSS to plan media campaign

OLDTOWN — The community is invited to join Citizens Against Newport Silicon Smelter for a Thursday at the Oldtown Rotary Park.

The event, which will begin at 6 p.m., is to plan a national media outreach campaign “exposing (Washington Gov. Jay) Inslee’s project of ‘statewide significance.’ ” In an email promoting the event, the group notes that as a candidate running for U.S. president, Inslee “boasts about being environmentally minded yet on the east side of the mountains, next to the Idaho border, we fight against a silicon smelter that he has endorsed.”
